Is Heaven Really Our Home?

Christians often say that ‘heaven is our true home.’

But is this really the story that the Bible tells?

Hang with me for a minute…this is a big topic that will take a couple posts.

For now, let’s start at the beginning…

In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1 & 2), where did he put people?

On earth, of course.

This is before sin, when everything God made was good and people were very good.

People shared fellowship with God, there was no sin to separate us from God.

Where did God place people?

On earth.

Was there a heaven?

Where did God place us?

On Earth.

This is where God created us to be.

Earth, not heaven.

The idea is that we were intended to live in the wonderful world that God created, stewarding his creation and living under his loving lordship and in fellowship with one another.

No death.  No ‘afterlife.’  Just life.  No going to heaven.

There is, of course much more to the story.  I will tell the rest of the story, but for today, I just want to stir you up a bit.  🙂

I know, there’s a whole list of verse that you’re thinking about.  We’ll get there.

For today, just think about creation.

In the beginning, earth was our intended, forever home.
